NI488.2 software uninstall and reinstall

We want to uninstall and reinstall our NI488.2 software and PCI GPIB card. I wanted to know the correct order of operations.  Does it go like this:

1.  Unintall the NI488.2 software
2.  Take the GPIB card out of the computer
3.  Install the NI488.2 software (newer version)
4.  Put the GPIB card back in the computer

Thanks.

Hi there,

Are you upgrading your driver to a new version?  If so, you can simply install the newer version and it will install on top of the version you are currently using; you would not need to uninstall.  If you are having a problem and need to uninstall/reinstall your driver, then yes, I would remove the card in between and make sure the hardware has been removed from Device Manager as well.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, but what you are saying is not correct.

I'm trying to update to a new version (due to some missing dll files) and it says that I have to unstall the older versions.

However when I try to uninstall it asks for the original disks

Could you show a screen shot of the message you are getting when trying to uninstall? You should be able to install a new version of 488.2 on top of your older ones.
