NIVISA Wizard created driver works withWindowsXP; not with Windows7

Have a USB device. The INF file was created using NI VISA Driver Wizard (XP32bit).

2 files are attached.

1. NameDevice.inf................created for Windows XP. This works on Windows32bitXP. This file does not work on Windows64bitXP.

2  NameDevice_vista&7.inf .......created for Windows 7. This does not work for Windows32bit7. This file doesn not work for Windows64bit7.

When installing the instrument (pointing to the correct file), The error received from Windows OS is:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Data type is not supported.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for device software."

I am looking to know

-why file1 does not work with WindosXP64bit

- why file2 does not work with Windows 7.

regards

Hi Sandeep,

Did you get a solution for this issue?

I am also facing a similar problem. VISA Wizard created driver for the device is working fine with XP (32 bit). But on trying to install INF file for Vista&Win7 on a Windows7 (64 bit) PC, it is giving error. "This device can not start. Code(10)"

Thanks in advance

Hi SajK,

What version of NI-VISA are you using?  Also, did you have the device connected when creating the driver using the VISA Driver Development Wizard?  You might try connecting your device and then proceeding to use the VISA Driver Development Wizard to create and install the driver.  Thanks!

Hi SajK,

Just for clarification, did you recreate a driver using the wizard on your 64-bit Win 7 computer?  Thanks!
