NIVXI3.5.1 is not creating the service NI Configuration Manager and MAX generates a database error

Hello Guys,

I really need help.  I have installed the NI-VXI3.5.1 package but the application only generates 2 services the Service Locator and the Domian Service.  MAX is giving me a database error;  I believe my system must have the NI Configuration Manager started to get rid of that error; however the service NI Configuration Manager is not created during installation of the NIVXI3.5.1 package.

Help!!!  Please

My OS is windowsXP

Hi alcaEli-

What is the MAX database error?  Can you describe this a little more?  Possibly provide a screenshot of the error so we can see what is going on?

MAX should install all of the services it needs to function; it does not need NI-VXI to install a service that it needs.

It is the data base connection error.  I installed the package NIVXI3.5.1 because I will also be utilizing VIC, Visa, ect.

Hi alcaEli-

Have you completed all he steps in case 2 of your linked KB?  Like deleting the Data folder or reinstalling NI-VXI?  If that doesn't work, proceed to step 4 and follow the steps of the linked KB regarding MAX database corruption.  I am inclined to think that this is your issue.  Following step 4 should clean everything up and you should be good to go.

    Best of luck o you!

Greetings Mr. Gary and thank you for the reply!!!

I have tried to solve the problem utilizing the information you have suggested me.  I followed the specified steps ( step 2 did not generate any change in the output of the installation; when I apply step four and the steps in the link, the system, at the command promt, tells me that msxxvr is not installed.  I have read and applied many of the possible solutions, posted on the NI website, to solve that procurment; however none has worked.  Initially the error was gotten rid of after installing the content of the NIVXI 3.5.1 package in the directory where the NI Configuartion Manager service was located.  My supervisor wanted the applications to be installed in a different directory and someone deleted the service NI Conf. Manager from the registry.  Since that action was taken, the package do not creates the services during installation.  Only the Service Locator and Domain Service created automatically during instalation.

The package has been installed and unistalled many times in an effor to get rid of the MAX database connection issue.  I have deleted every NI files and folders and re-installed the package, but nothing changes; the MAX database error is always there.

Best Regards!!!
