Thanks for the hints. I also figured out some more steps. There is already a newer version of NIKAL available (1.9.0f0) for SUse 11.0. But this will not compile with the kernel devlivered with SUSE11.0 or 11.1. You need to recompiled the kernel with NUMA support disabled. After that the kernel variable "max_mapnr" is available and the NIKAL kernel module will compile. Earlier versions of NIKAL have problems to get the GCC version.

But the error is still the same with gpibexplorer as well as with my applications. libnipalu.so still aborts ..
