New GPIB-ENET/100 and VMS

Our company bought the ESP-488 for the GPIB-ENET (part number 320910A-01) and spent time and money converting the Unix code supplied in the package to run on VMS which is not one of your supported platforms. My question is given that I buy a Windows version of the drivers to do management functions like assigning IP addresses, etc, will the VMS code that used to work with the old GPIB-ENET also work with the new GPIB-ENET/100?

Thanks in advance.

Hello:

Thank you for contacting National Instruments!

The NI-GPIB driver works for the GPIB-ENET and GPIB-ENET/100, refer http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/versions.htm for the one required for a particular Windows version. The hardware can be used with different OS's just the driver changes.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Doesn't tell me anything that I didn't know and in no way answers my question. VMS is an operating system that has never been supported by National Instruments. The ESP-488 for the GPIB-ENET described the low level communication protocol of the original GPIB-ENET. Does the new GPIB-ENET/100 follow the same protocol?

Hi Jagbass,

I am not familiar with the ESP-488.
But,
I used to to do crash dump analysis on VMS system back when there was a DEC.
I have written code in VAX-Macro that took advantage of the promiscuous mode available in the network drivers.
I am now an engineer with one of NI Select Integrators.
If you are willing to give me some background info I may be of some help. If you would like to take this conversation off-line, you can e-mail me at
