The PCMCIA-485 cards transmit and receive UART-framed data. For each byte sent, the frame will be:

Start bit, data, parity (optional), and stop bit.

There is no sync clock, and the UART resyncs on the start bit of each frame. A summary of the serial communication, including voltage levels and the data frame details, can be found at:

I have an encoder with RS 422 interface. I purchased NI PCMCIA-485 card. The card is working but I could not get data from the encoder yet. The encoder is a Renishaw RE36 S

Absolute binary syncro-serial interface (SSI): http://www.renishaw.com/UserFiles/acrobat/UKEnglish/L-9517-9151.pdf

Has anyone worked with reading from RS422 using NI PCMCIA-485? As I understand I need to send clock signal and receive data back but I do not know how. Does anybody have examples or ideas? I really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Ismail
