RS 232 to USB cable

Hi, I was wondering if any of you have used the:

~NI USB-232 Single-Port RS232 Interface for USB~  (an RS232 to USB cable)

I will soon be purchasing a mass flow controller (along the lines of an MKS 647C Four/Eight-channel Mass Flow and Pressure Programmer/Display) that has an RS 232 interface.

It seems like getting this RS232 to USB cable saves the hassle of installing any cards into the computer's motherboard.

I plan on using LabView to interface, so I am wondering if I should expect this to be kind of `plug and play` or is there a catch?

Cheers!

The NI interfaces are quite well, but not all usb to serial converters are correct. You should not notice a difference except that it is called something like com14 or even higher.

Be sure to find a good driver for your MKS system

have had a few different usb-232 adapters.  Best one has been the one from i/o gear model guc232a. Most expensive at 35 bucks. comes with a disk or can download driver from them
