RUSKA 6200

Hello,

     I have an old RUSKA Pressure Gage, SERIES 6200, with no manual.  I would like to read the pressure readings in psi.  Dont know much about this instrument, just some basics like on the conguration menu the baud rate says 9600.  I installed the library for the RU725x series, but had no success with that code or those commands.  Thank-you in advance for any help. ~ Mike

Hello Mike,

What type of instrument is it?  Is is GPIB or Serial?  If you know that, you can use VISA to send commands to the instrument, but you'd still have to know what commands the instrument uses.

The RUSKA is using the serial DB-25 connection, and I would like to read it on the computer from the DB-9 port(Instrument=RS-232 & computer=COM1).  I found commands for the 7200 model, and I think they should be similar since I am just performing a few basic configs and readings.  I think I may need to make a special wire to connect with, Im not to sure about that at this point either.  I tried a generic cable and using VISA modules, but didnt see any signs of a response from the instrument or on loabview from Front Panel indicators.  I wish I had more to work with, maybe by the end of today.  Thank-you ~ Mike

Mike,

You should consider contacting the instrument manufacturer to ask about the programmer's manual. They should also be able to provide some information on which type of cable you should have.

     I tried that this morning, and will continue with this.  So far I have talked to two voice mail, an operator, and sent an email.  Ive looked up various standards and then tried things I knew would not work, and they did not work.  Maybe something will pan out as I develop the automation side for these tests.  I might look into a unit designed for testing communications plugs between varying standards.  Do they make such tools???  Thank-you~Mike
