Remote control of R&S SFU over LAN

I want to control the Rohde&Schwarz SFU remotely over LAN. As per the operating manual of the SFU, it has a LAN interface with VXI-11 standard. I learnt that I need to use VISA library for communicating with the instrument. I installed NI-VISA4.3 in my PC. Is that sufficient enough for me to send commands to the SFU remotely with a VB6 application? Can anyone please let me know if I require any additional drivers or software at the PC side as well as at the instrument side?

Thanks for the info.

And more help please. Do I have any option for the remote operation of R&S SFU without using a VISA library or is it mandatory to have the VISA library?

I did not look at the driver, but you always can do it yourself, but VISA is free, so why not use it?

Does VISA come free? I was looking for options without VISA because I thought I have to buy VISA.In my R&S manual, I read that NI-VISA has to be licensed separately if I want to use it for the remote operation of SFU.

Can I use NI-VISA for free for the remote operation of SFU?

NI-VISA is only free when you have a qualifying NI hardware or software product. For example, it comes with LabVIEW, LabWindows, a GPIB controller, .etc. See the Licensing Information.
