Remove USB device and reinsert. Won't respond until a system reboot

I am talking to a TI Launchpad board with some custom code.  It appears as a serial device when connected to the USB.  If it gets unplugged, then plugged back in, LavVIEW can't communicate with it until a system reboot is performed.  I don't have any problems reconnecting to it with a new RealTerm window, but LabVIEW goes silent.

Windows Manager shows it is there.

This is on a large test station where multiple fixtures may be connected one at a time.  Rebooting is not a good option

Just for reference, the TI Launchpad USB is being provided via a driver from Stellaris.

Hello Tom,

Upon plugging back in your instrument, does the Launchpad show up in NI MAX? If so, are you able to communicate with it?

What is the model number of your Launchpad?

I found this document detailing how to force windows to remove and redetect a USB device, which could be implemented programatically in LabVIEW using the System Exec VI. It might help. http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1D120A90884C25AF862573A700602459

Best regards,

I will have to look up the launchpad number.

The device shows up in NIMAX but if you try to access it from within NIMAX, it says that the device is valid but not available.

I was looking for the API call in Windows to reinstantiate the USB.  Thanks.

Can anybody else access the link above?  I am wondering if our firewall/security software is preventing it.

I see the same behavior as SnowMule when directly clicking the link, try the following instead: https://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1D120A90884C25AF862573A700602459

Or open a new tab / window and try to navigate to the url that way.
