Thanks for your inputs. I found a simple work around. In fact, the decribed error only occurs for the first command sent. Hence with some 'dummy' commands sent before starting the acual measurments it works.
I got another question a bit off-topic but related to the read out of the SR400:
The status command returns a byte in ASCII coded decimal. This string I need to transform to a binary number in order to asccess the individual status bits (each of the 8 bits is the status of some parameter). How can this be done in Labview? I looking for an equvalent to the the Matlab function "dec2bin(number)"
