Since I don't have the specifics of the problem, such as your operating system or version of LabView, I cannot be sure of the solution.

Even if you are not using LabView 4.1, this may help if you have an older version of the serpdrv file in the LabView directory.
Other than that, I would recommend making sure that you are using the correct termination character. NI Simulator expects either \n or \r after the string that you are sending.
