Serial Printer Emulation

I have an old DEC PDP11 computer system that only prints to a serial printer. I want to connect the printer cable to the serial port of a PC and emulate a DEC/Digital LN03 type printer so that I can acquire the print data and print it on modern printers. Does anyone have any VIs written to do something like this?

Hi Ken123,

I seriously dought that you are going to find a canned VI that will do this.

I used to be a Systems Support Engineer with DEC back when they where Number 2 behind IBM (Micro who?). I have the control panel from a PDP11/70 in my lab.

The LNo3 was capable of doing PS printing and accepted standard PS data. It used the same protocol as the VT102 for data transfers Xon/Xoff flow control.

Please calrify what you are trying to do. Are you trying to get the data pumped out by the PDP11 to show up on a modern printer?

Have you tried just connecting up a modern printer equiped with a serial port?

Please excuse the following, I just can not help myself.

012737 (octal) move the data that follows to the address that follows. PDP11 machine langu
age.

Yes, ther is life after DEC.
