Serial port init.vi return Error 38 at default config without other serial utility open. Why?

I upgraded Labview from rev4.0 to rev5.1. When I run example VI "serial init.vi" and got error 38 return. The VI setting is default from D:\ Labview5 fold. What is wrong?

You might want to check that both ports involved in the communication are configured the same. Also, sometimes this error is caused by conflicting versions of the LabVIEW serpdrv file. Make sure that there is only one version of this file on your computer and that it is the one for your version of LabVIEW.
