I am using the PCIe-GPIB on our dell desktop. But it seems it is too small, the GPIB exponsion"head" is not long enough to reach the motherboard. Does that mean I need some kind of adapter to connect the GPIB to the PC motherboard? Have anyone encountered the samiliar problem? How was that solved?
Thank you!

It sounds like you may have inadvertently purchased a PCIe-GPIB/LP, which has a shorter bracket in order to fit some slim desktops. You probably need the PCIe-GPIB.

Thank you! So you mean: to solve the problem, I am not buying an male to female cable but to replace the GPIB board. Am I getting it right?

Yes, assuming I was correct in that you have the shorter version, you just need to exchange for the non low-profile version of the board. From the pictures in my last post you should be able to see if swapping boards would solve your problem.

Hello,
I think we are unable to tell what is going wrong with your description. It looked like you were saying that the PCIe-GPIB card does not fit into your computer. However, you also mention the GPIB port of the board not fitting somewhere.
Perhaps you can provide a picture of the card and the motherboard/computer so we can visually see how things are not working out for you.
Thanks,
Steven T.

Due to the NI website, GPIB&GBIB/LP works equivently, only LP is restricted to Windows system and may have a lower transfer rate. I am using it on Windows XP, so I'll keep the current one. Thanks for your advise. It's quite helpful.

I thought that your current board didn't fit in your computer, so how will you continue to use it? I agree with Steven that a picture of the problem would be helpful, and then we could know that we are giving you the correct advice.
