Tektronix visa driver inconpatable with NI visa driver

I am having problem with teststands that have Tektronix (scope) visa software installed.
When adding NI visa support to Max, Max no longer works (hangs) .
Does any one no how to fix this problem.
I have uninstalled all Tektronix software but MAX still hangs.
Uninstalling and reinstalling NI drivers does not fix the problem.
I have three teststands now with this problem.

Can you include the scope model you are using and the versions of software?

TDS 3014B I think.

The sofware version is whatever is delivered with the scope so I am unable to state the version.

Forgot.

I followed the instruction to uninstall all MAX drivers and reinstall after removing all Tekronix software and deliting all reference to NI and Tekronix in the registry and under program files.

Hey Colin,
We use NI-VISA with Tek instruments all of the time with CVI and LabVIEW.  If you have another system that is clean, I recommend only installing NI software on it and confirming that you can communicate with the scope.  There are both LabVIEW and IVI drivers for your instrument on IDNet.  You can use them to create your own application that controls the scope and reads data from it.  I have never used Tek VISA with NI MAX, so we will have to hear from someone who has about how they got things working.  You might want to contact Tek and see if their SW application has been tested to work with NI-VISA (Since all VISAs should meet a certain spec).

Cheers,

Hi Colin,

How is the device connected to the computer?  USB?  Ethernet?

An NI Spy capture would help us narrow down the cause of this hang.  You can launch NI Spy (from All Programs->National Instruments) and start the capture before opening MAX, then stop and save the capture after MAX hangs.  Then please upload the .spy capture file here.

I got around the problem by removing all NI and Tectronix drivers and reinstalling only the NI stuff following the Clean Reinstall Procedures from NI.

Thanks

Colin.
