Troubleshotting Wizard: Software not installed error?

I've installed the NI-Serial Software for Windows per the "ENET Serial Installation" instructions in the Serial Installation Guide.  However, when I run the NI-Serial Troubleshooting Wizard it cannot find the software installation and pops up an error telling me to reboot & re-install (which I have done 3 times).  Why is the NI-Serial software not being found?

jsams,

Several questions about what is happening here:

1. What is the exact hardware that you are trying to install?  ENET-232, ENET-484?  Are you installing more than one of these devices?

2. What version of NI-Serial did you install?

3. Could you post a screenshot of the error that tells you to reboot and re-install?

I'm trying to install one ENET-232/4.  NI-Serial For Windows, Version 3.4.  I've attached a screenshot of the error.  The COM ports show up in the device manager and say that they are ready to use.  But my software is unable to communicate with the radio that I have plugged into the first port (COM3 according to the device manager).  The software is not using NI-VISA libraries but my understanding is that it should be able to make standard windows serial I/O calls as if the radio was connected directly to a serial port on my computer.  And I get the error when trying to run the troubleshooting wizard which makes me think that something is not setup correctly.  Thanks for your help.

What operating system is this?  Looks like Windows XP or 2000.  Is the OS 32-bit or 64-bit?

The version of NI-Serial that you are using should be compatible with Windows 2000 and the ENET-232.  At this point, it might be an interesting test to see if you can use a prior version of the NI-Serial driver, such as 3.3.  See if this changes the behavior in any way.  Remember to uninstall completely before installing another version.  I know you are not using it, but is NI-VISA installed on this computer?

My feeling is that this has to be something to do with a corrupt installation on your PC.  Is there another PC you can try?
