After installing the device driver for my USB RAW device using the Driver Wizard packaged with VISA 5.0.2, the device appears in Windows Device Manager under the category NI-VISA USB devices. But when I open MAX version 4.7.2f0 the device appears under Miscellaneous VISA Resources instead of the USB category. Also, the Device Type shows as Unknown, and when I try to open a VISA session it issues an error:
Unable to open session to "USB:: ... (resource name)
Return status code: 0xBFFF0011
Status name: VI_ERROR_RSRC_NFOUND
Insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present in the system.
I have followed the same installation procedure in various machines, some with Windows XP SP3 and one with Windows 7, and the results are the same for all. I would say that the driver is installed correctly in all cases since Windows can see it, but NI-VISA is unable to open it, why?
Note: The USB device is an Evaluation Board for a Cypress microcontroller (CY3214) but also I have tried with a USB mouse.
