Use oscilloscope inputs on TDS 7054 w/ LabVIEW installed on scope OS?

I have a Tektronix TDS 7054.  It has a standalone Windows operating system.  I am wondering if I can install LabVIEW 7.1 on the oscilloscope itself, use the drivers located here: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=6566BC3787B433D2E0440003BA7CCD... and be able to read data from the oscilloscope BNC connections directly into the LabVIEW environment installed on the Windows system that's built in without the need for an external PC.  Does anyone have experience doing this??

I don't have direct experience, but I use Lecroy scopes via ethernet connection. If you use TCP/IP drivers as well, I believe you just need to input the "local host" IP as address

What OS does it has? I mean Windows 9x, 2k, XP or Vista?

According to release date of TDS7054, should be 2k or XP

Actually, ours has 98, which has issues with 7.1.  I have found a 5054 that has 2000 SP3 on it and am trying to see if i can get permission to use it for this application.

I basically need to sample 5 analog channels at a rate of 4000 samples/sec.  If I can get it to work with an o-scope, i don't have to worry about stepping the voltage down or messing with the current since the probes already take care of that.  It's also much more portable than a laptop w/ a big PXI chassis.  We'll see how it goes.

You can install the latest LabVIEW version in another PC with XP os and install latest version of NI VISA and then control the oscilloscope with the drivers.

I already did so with TDS7404. Let me know if i can help out.

I agree that using another host PC would work.  The whole idea behind having LabVIEW installed on the scope itself is so it is very portable.  I'd be interested to get your take on how I might access those BNC inputs assuming I did get 7.1 installed on the 5054...  Thanks for the feedback.

I know this is not the correct place to ask this, sorry....  my question is to Idratherberacing.

I understand, reading your post, you have a 7054 scope with win 98 as operating system.

Does it use the intel BL440ZX mother board? Can you, please, tell me the part number of the systen restore disk you have for the scope? I'm getting mixed resposes from Tektronics on the correct disk I need for my system, as I've lost the original disks.

Thanks in advance,
