Using CEC and National Instruments GPIB cards in the same PC

I have two pieces of third party software that both require GPIB control.  The first piece of software requires a CEC gpib card.  The second requires a National Instruments card, but when I try to install both drivers, one always requires that the other be uninstalled.  Is there anyway to get aroud this?

Hello MattZ,

I know that the latest version of the CEC driver cannot co-exist with NI-488.2, and I do not know about earlier versions of their driver.  Is it necessary that both of these applications be used on the same computer, or could they be installed on separate machines?

Use the CEC driver version 7. Version 8 is where they started detecting if NI-488 was installed. You only need ver 8 if you have the USB to GPIB converter(I think)

I did not notice any incompatibility and I have CEC GPIB boards on
machines with NI GPIB boards together.

Where can be downloaded the driver that might be incompatible to your
observation ?

I can make the test but in any case, it is necessary to have different
VISA names and not to share same interrupts etc but only for old boards
....

with my software, I even used to have 4 boards of different
manufacturers on one PC and 2 is definitely not a problem ...

The advantage is to have a "real-time" with several boards

I went back to using version 7 of the CEC driver and version 1.7 of the NI 488.2 driver and this worked well.  I may not even have had to go back to version 1.7 of the NI driver, but it doesn't hurt.

grasdep, I am noticing the problem when I use version 8 of the CEC driver and version 2.2 of the NI 488.2 driver.

The NI card is a PCI-GPIB and the CEC is a PC488 card
