Using PCI-GPIB card hangs the system (Windows 7)

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I'm running Labview 11.0 (32bit) on a Windows 7 (64bit) computer and using PCI-GPIB board to communicate with the instruments.

I can use GPIB to send commands to devices, yet when I use "Measurement and Automation" and scan for instruments it runs good fist time, but if I scan again the syste hangs completely (no reaction to any imput).

Same happens if I use I/O assistant VI, I can get one response from the instrument, and on the second call system hangs. Yet I can send as many commands without any problems, so the source is in the reading stage.

The PCI-GPIB board worked perfectly fine for years on another computer running WinXP.

Has anyone ever had this problem and what may be the source of it?

I had a similar problem but I just got to find out that the Motherboard wasn't good..

Just try in a different computer.. Optionally You can uninstall and install back the NI 488.2 drivers..

The problem was in the BIOS. I've installed the latest version and so far everything works fine and smooth, thank you for the advice.
