Hi Justin

Thanks for the link to that magic VI to save for a previous LV version. I have LV 8.6 on my PC only and I open save4prev.vi to convert LLB from version 8.0 to version 7.1

I selected the folder storing all my LLBs that in LV 8.0 format, select all of them and then click CONVERT button.

Take some time to convert all of them but there is no way for me to specify what previous version I want to convert to?

I took these converted LLB and tried to open them under LV 71 on another PC but all these VIs shown as having the version LV 8.5?

That means the tool only moved down one digit from the LV installed version that uses this tool.

In my case even if all LLB were in LV 8.0 already as the tool is used in LV 8.6 the converted LLB end up as LV 8.5.

The tool will only save to the previous version. Since by opening the llbs you convert them to 8.6, it would be expected that the new llb would be 8.5.  It is not a tool for your use to save to 7.1. It is a tool that someone with 8.0 could use to save to 7.1. As Justin said, it is "For whoever would like to convert these LLBs". The only way that the files can be converted to 7.1 is with LabVIEW 8.0.

I think you are just going to have to be patient and wait for someone with 8.0 and has the time to spare. I skipped 8.0 (it was pretty buggy) and went from 7.1 to 8.2 and now 2009.

Hi Dennis

This clarifies the matter.

We have a lot of clients that still use LV 71 and the only decent way of serving them is to do all this step ladder VIs conversion in house.

This is more demanding now as for our own testing we need at least few iterations back and forth between those VIs versions and relying on other people time it is not reasonable.

We have to get a hold on a LV 8.0 version ASAP and do all this conversion in house.

Thanks for input
