VISA Control of Power Supply via Ethernet

Hello. I have been trying to add in remote control for a CAEN R1471E power supply. After several hours I was able to talk to the supply via USB, and I was able to configure the ethernet port of the device. I was able to ping the device via the command prompt, but when I go to add the device in NI MAX I get the attached error. I am unsure how to proceed from here.

2 stupid things I can think of:

1. You are do not actually have an Ethernet connection (cable unplugged)

2. Your Ethernet adapter on the computer is not set up to be in the 169.254.78.XXX subnet.

So how is your Ethernet adapter set up?

1. My computer is plugged directly into the device via a cable.

2. I configured the IP address of the device to be the same subnet as my computer's ethernet port. When I ping it via the command prompt I get the following.
