I am trying to make a keithley 2400 talk to a labview program via Agilent 82357A GPIB-USB cable. This was used by a student in our group and he graduated. Now I am trying to use the same thing but i am facing some problem with the keithley. The labview program used was to calculate the resistance of a material over a period of time.

The Agilent connection expert recognizes the instrument via the GPIB board, but when we try to run the SCPI commands through the instrument I/O assitant, we get the follwoing message.

"Failed to open a session with the selected instrument.

 Error message : The interface type is valid but the specified interface number is not configured.
VISA Status code : bfff00a5"

Can someone help me in this regard?

Are you using the Agilent controller on the same computer as the previous student? If not, you probably need to go to MAX and enable Tulip support for the Agilent controller to be used with LabVIEW. Go to Tools>NI-VISA>VISA options. In the right hand window, click on the Passports section under General Settings. Check the NIVISATulip.dll box. You might also perform a search for 82357 to see other posts on the same subject.
