Hi CeeTee,

NI-SPY is not a stand alone application but an addon. You should be able to upgrade to the newest version of NI-SPY by upgrading your VISA (2.6 or later) or 488.2 drivers. I would recommend updating your VISA to obtain the new version of NI-SPY!

Hope this helps out!

I downloaded and installed the newest VISA pack but NiSpy is still reported as 1.4. The specific problem I am having is that when I attempt to open the .spy file it returns the error "This file has unexpected format and cannot be opened" I'm a little baffled what to do next. Essentially I'm needing to see the full string being sent to a device via the right mouse click of each line, not the annotated version that is shown in exports and on screen in the column view.

Any ideas on what might be wring with my NiSpy?

I found it. I had downloaded the 2.6 Runtime.. not the Full Install of 2.6. After this, NiSpy was updated and everything is working as expected. I just have to get my client to rerun the GPIB commnds with Full buffer mode on and I'll be good to go.

THanks!
