Where is NI-VISA v2.6.1?

When installing NI-488.2 v2.0 on Windows98, I get a message that it requires NI-VISA v2.6.1 or greater. I can only find version 2.6.0 or less on ni.com. What is going on?

You're right, that message is misleading. NI-VISA is not required unless you are using instrument driver software that needs NI-VISA. The NI-488.2 Version 2.0 driver can be used with NI-VISA Version 2.6.0 or greater. You can upgrade your current NI-VISA version to NI-VISA Version 2.6.0 from the website. NI-VISA Version 2.6.1 is available on the NI-488.2 Version 2.0 CD, which you can order from the web using Part Number 778599-01 or through your National Instruments Sales Representative.
