Why don't serial ports show up in "Devices and Interfaces" in MAX

I've installed MAX 4.7.6 and NI VISA 5.0 as part of an installer that I built. Why don't the serial ports show up in "Devices and Interfaces" in MAX? Windows Device Manager says they are there.

Are you saying that they don't show up in the target computer after your installer is run, or on your computer were you are developing?

If it is on the target computer, did you restart the computer after running the installer?

They didn't show up on the target computer. We had to uninstall VISA and MAX and reinstall everything and then it finally showed up. I guess the moral is to always uninstall the old stuff before installing the new stuff.
