Will 488.2 ver3 support GPIB-A

Will NI 488.2 ver3 Support my USB to GPIB-A device?   I would prefer not to roll back drivers if i don't have to.

This would be used on an XP machine.

Yes, NI 488.2 version 3.0 should support the USB-GPIB device. Here is a link to the release notes for NI 488.2 3.0 and it should be able to help you should you have any more questions about compatibility.

Actually, no. The USB-GPIB-A is not listed as supported. Only the USB-GPIB-B and USB-GPIB-HS

Yes i saw that in the release notes after having some difficulty with our old USB-GPIB-A device.  I swiched to a PCI GPIB card instead and all is good.   Not sure if it is possible to add GPIB-A support over the ver3 488.2, it would be nice to be able to use it if we can.

The last version to support the GPIB-USB-A on Windows XP is version 2.2, as shown on this chart GPIB Driver Versions for Microsoft Windows and DOS. The PCI-GPIB is also supported with version 2.2, so you could use either or both GPIB Interfaces with version 2.2.

If you have already installed 3.0 and decide to downgrade, you should:

  1. Uninstall GPIB 3.0
  2. Reboot
  3. Install GPIB 2.2
  4. Reboot

Hope this information helps.
