continuous acquisition from an oscilloscope

I am using a tektronix TPS 2024 oscilloscope. I have currently connected it to an AC supply and am trying to acquire continuous data from it into signal express version 2.0. I cannot get signal express to auto update changes in the amplitude. I have to hit run once every time I change the voltage. Also when I hit run, signal express just goes into a running stage and doesn't do anything. It is as if it hangs.

Hi smm,

I will need a bit more information to help me to troubleshoot your issue . Are you able to acquire any reliable data from your acquisition? At the beginning of your post it seemed that you were able to acquire one data point at a time but were having trouble with a continuous acquisition, but in the last line of your post it sounded like nothing was working at all. Perhaps you could provide me with a brief description of what is and what is not working, along with the steps that you are using in SignalExpress for your application.

Best regards,

The thing is, that as of now I'm just trying to see if I can acquire the AC voltage off the oscilloscope. Lets say for example, I turn the power supply to 10 V, I want to be able to see 10 V on Signal Express. Now if I change the power supply to 25 V, SE should also make the chage with the power supply. But that doesn't happen with the continuous run. On the contrary, when I use run continuous, it only shows me the first acquired voltage and nothing new after that.
Now, if I use run once, then I can see the change in voltage every time I hit run once.
I want to be able to see the continuous change in voltage immediately.

This is just a small test part of the project. I ultimately want to be able to use this feature to test the voltage change in a running motor. So only if I get this working well, will I be able to do anything about the motor voltage change

In order to set up a continuous acquisition in Signal Express you will need to make sure that you set the Acquisition Mode to Continuous Samples and then use the Continuous Run button to start the application. Is your application set up this way?

I believe it is. Is there anything specific to be done, to set it to N samples?

Also, can a waveform be saved to be printed later?

Hi smm,

If you have the SignalExpress code set up properly, you might want to verify that your Tektronix 2000 oscilloscope supports continuous acquisition. To answer your new question, once you have acquired data you should be able to save it and reload it in signal express.
