cotrol MFC(mass flow controller) using labview

Hy
There is a system already set-up in my lab where labview will be running 24*7 controlling the gas flows through mass flow controllers (MFC). My application is to add few more MFC's to the system. In order to do that i need to understand the existing system. The labview version is 4 & it is running on windows 95. There is a NI 488.2M (with GPIB spy & win32 interactive control) software installed in the computer. I dont know the hardware that has been used for this application. Is there a way to find out what hardware it is using?

The windows device manager should tell you what cards are installed in the system. The hardware required for the application is unknown though you would have to assume it is using the GPIB interface in some manner. If you are going to modify the existing application, that presumes that you have the source code so you should be able to look at that. How can anyone else determine what this application is using? You haven't provided much of a description of the physical system or provided the program for someone else to look at.

The MFCs that I've used before have all been RS-232/RS-485.  These were made by Alicat (older ones called Cole Palmer).  Another was Unit made by Celerity.  There are others out there that use Device NET (can't remember who).  I have not come across any that use GPIB, but I'm certainly no MFC expert!

Hope this helps!
