I've searched and can't seem to find if there is an IVI driver avaliable for the HP/Aggilent 34401A? Is it possible to create an IVI driver for this resource ??

Where did you search and what did you search for? I went to the Instrument Driver Network, searched for 34401A and found the list of all drivers.

I have those and installed them, but in MAX I can not seem to create an IVI driver for the HP device.

There is no 'them' there is only an 'it' - a single driver. Is the dll installed in the correct place? On XP/Vista with the latest IVI software, it should be in C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\IVI. Older versions have the driver in the c:\vxipnp folder. In MAX, what do you see for Driver Sessions and Instrument Driver Software Modules? After installation, did you do a refresh in MAX?

There is a folder @ c:\program files\IVI\

in Driver Session I see a list with ni5401, ni5402 etc... but nothing listed for the HP DVM.

Hello Dennis,

      Please try the following:

1.  Make sure that MAX is closed

2.  Run the IVI installer for the 34401A IVI driver again and use it to uninstall the driver

3.  Make sure that MAX is still closed

4.  Run the IVI installer for the 34401A IVI driver again to install the driver

5.  Confirm that the installer put files (.c, .fp, and .sub) in the following location:  C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\IVI\Drivers\hp34401a

     5a.  Also confirm that there is a hp34401a_32.dll in the  C:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\IVI\Bin   folder

6.  Open MAX and see if there is now a driver session for the hp34401A IVI Specific Driver

7.  If there is not a driver session for the driver, than you will need to create one

Please let us know how it goes,

NathanT
