MAX version 4.3(4.1 makes no difference)
ICP version 3.2(3.1 makes no difference)

other softwares:
CVI 8.01 IVI share Component1.5
VC2005 with SP1
Winxp sp2
Agilent 34410 IVI-COM驱动
Agilent 44xx IVI-COM驱动

error description:
First, I created a new "Driver Session" in "IVI Drivers" tab,
after that added a new "Hardware Assets" .
When I tried to edit "Resource Descriptor" ,MAX reported an error  and quited.
The error message noted that  mod with the name  niiviui.mxx  and version 4.1.0f0 brought the error.

I wanna a solution or I have to modify the IviConfigurationStore.xml myself.

Hello WangPeng,

I am not able to reproduce the issue. I have installed Agilent 34410 IVI-COM driver as well as L44xx IVI-COM driver and I am able to assign the resource names to both in MAX 4.3.0f0. Could you please send us the exact error you get - please take a screenshot.

Also, please let us know how you edit the resource descriptor field: did you double-click on it, did you see the drop down list, at which exactly point did you get the error?

Are both of your instruments configured under Devices and Interfaces? What is your NI-VISA version?

Please also send us your IviConfigurationStore.xml so we can check if the file is OK.

Thanks!

I do not install NI VISA, instead, I use Agilent visa included in Agilent Connection Expert.

SO I did not see any "Devices and Interfaces" choice

The error happends just i double click in the Resource Descriptor area, and I did not see any drop lists either.

Hello WangPeng,
In order to get the VISA resource descriptor to populate, you will need to install NI VISA.  I am pretty sure that there are some steps to get it to work with Agilent VISA, maybe someone else can enlighten us.

Cheers,

Hi,

Unless you have an Agilent controller, you don't need Agilent VISA.  If you use NI-VISA, you don't need to have the VISA's installed side-by-side, and NI-VISA will automatically use its GPIB passport to access your Agilent 34410.

If you do want to use the VISA's side-by-side to keep both installed, here is a KB that explains it in the context of a GPIB/HPIB case.

Can I Use Both National Instruments (GPIB) and Agilent/HP (HPIB) Controllers in the Same System?
