error loading NI-488.2M DOS Helper VXD

With NI-488.2 for win 2000/Me/98 GBIB-USB-A installed in my laptop the following message appears before the laptop finishes booting(only wallpaper displayed)
"Error loading the NI-488.2M DOS helper VXD. Contact National Instruments if the problem persists." After I click on the OK button within the error dialog box, the laptop completes booting and everything appears to work fine. I would like to know what is causing this annoying message so it can be eliminated

This error could be due to the DOS support being enabled. To disable DOS support:
-Go to the "Device Manager"
-Right-click the "National Instruments GPIB Interfaces" and click properties
-Uncheck Enable DOS Support
If you don't have this option, you can also remove the error by starting regedit (Start >> Run, then type regedit) and looking for a registry entry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices called NI4882MDosSupportEXE. Removing this registry key should remove the error. Be sure to back up your registry before making any changes to it!
