Hi Adrian,
I looked into your error and noticed that Mandriva 2007 is not officially supported per the following KnowledgeBase:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/35D2B5E483A001A18625716B005BE464?OpenDocument

However I will look into this issue further for your and report back any findings.

From the system report I can see the following in /var/log/messages:

Jul 24 11:47:29 adios kernel: nikal: version magic '2.6.17-14mdvcustom SMP mod_unload 686 gcc-4.1' should be '2.6.17-14mdv SMP mod_unload 686 gcc-4.1'

My first question is did you recompile your kernel?  Usually this is what causes it to append custom to the name as in "2.6.17-14mdvcustom". The following KB may help you solve the problem.:

Why do I Receive a Version Magic Error When I Install NI Drivers on Mandrake 10.1?
