how do I use the hp 34970a instrument driver

I have downloaded the hp 34970a instrument driver. now How do I use it? Do I need any additional software or hardware from NI or can I just use the rs232 cable that came with it?

There are two drivers available for the 34970. Since you're using RS-232, I'm guessing that you got the LabVIEW version. In that case, after you've uncompressed the zip file, open the HP34970A.llb and several vi's will be opened (if it complains that it can't find one of them, point LabVIEW to the HP34970u.llb). Depending on what you want to do, you can either start with one of the examples, or build your own code. In any case, you'll be able to communicate with your instrument using the RS-232 cable and your PC com port (or any NI RS-232 plug-in or ethernet port).

In LabVIEW, go to the Tools menu and choose Instrumentation>Find Instrument Drivers.
