how do you uninstall ni-488 drivers?

I'm trying to install Measurement Computing's GPIB-488.  Unfortunately, their software errors on "Conflicting gpib software was detected on the system" during installation.  I have Labview 8.2.1 and the NI-488 is listed as a program in the Start Menu programs but not in the "Add/Remove Programs" in XP's control panel.   How do I remove or, at least, get NI-488 drivers out of memory so I can install this other piece of hardware & software.

Thanks for your time and attention,
Ron

Did you try Control Panel/ Add Remove Programs / National Instruments Software / Change Remove / NI-488? It is not listed directly in the programs list, but under National Instruments Software

In Add or Remove Programs, select National Instruments Software. Removing the driver may be the easy part. Getting the MCC card to work with all of the LabVIEW functions and drivers may take a bit more time. Maybe more time than the $35 you saved by buying the MCC card.Smiley Wink

In my Add/Remove Programs, I have only the following:

NI ComponentWorks Automation Symbols
NI ComponentWorks Autotuning PID
NI LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolset 1.0.1
NI LabVIEW SPC Tools
NI Signal Processing Toolset 7.0.1

There isn't even a list for a GPIB library or CEC GPIB 488 driver.  The NI-488 shows up in the "Measurement & Automation" program but it doesn't have any way turning it off.  Where should I look next?

There is a gpib-32.dll file in my Windows' System32 directory.  Should I just rename it and reboot?

As for the savings of $35 for an NI card, well, you know how bosses are.  $35 is $35 regardless of the hidden costs.  But for the point of this discussion, I'm not installing a GPIB card.  Rather, I have a GPIB-to-USB device for the flexibility of going from laptop or desktop to GPIB device.  Now if I could only get the drivers to work ...

Hang on!  I was mentally stuck on looking for "NI" instead of "National Instruments" and missed the "National Instruments Software".  I've just found it and have successfully removed NI-488.

Thanks for all of your help and time!

If you don't have a listing for National Instruments Software like shown below, then you don't have LabVIEW installed either.

Hi  Im trying to install a new USB-BPIB card and NI-488 V2.6 but i get "Legacy NI-488.2 Software Detected" you need to uninstall....I have LV 6.0.2 and NI-488 1.6 and XP.  Picked up somewhere that i hade to manually remove NI-488 if version older than 2.0 in add/remove progs but its not displayedin add/remove, and not in the National instruments icon in add/remove so now i have removed all NI software in the system exept LV6 but i still cant installDo i have to remove that to or what.
