how to acquire data from a RS 232 port

Hello everyone,

                       I am using labview 8.0 and i want to acquire data from my ecg machines RS 232 Port using labview.. I tried something with the VISA functions but as i am a beginner, i couldnt make it out.. So can anyone please help me out with this..???

you can start with the "Basic Serial Write and Read.vi" from the example finder.
