how to drive hpib by kusb488 with or without visa

the ISA pc of our lab, -to which an hpib card was fitted to connect an Agilent UV-VIS spectrophotometer- has crashed .

Since new pcs don't come with ISA slots,,the instrument has become unusable. I tried to connect the spectro by KUSB488 but though it is returning its address in VB6, no other response to common gpib commands are available from it like "IDN etc.

I tried with visa in VB6 but still no responce. Please advice

Since you aren't using either NI hardware or software, I would recommend you find a more appropriate forum, such as Keithley's.

i know its Keithley product, but it is connected to keithley

sourcemeter using nivisa(by vendor).

So I,m trying to utilize it to solve my problem .

More so because I could use the supplied ni-visa to program

an electrometer successfully by VB.

You have already been told by Dennis K. and I what you need to do. You can choose to ignore it at your leisure.

Just where do you see Keithley in NI? Why would you use NI-VISA?

The only explanation would be because the original ISA card was made by NI.

And the original code was written to work with that card.

Otherwise, who the heck knows why he is doing what he is doing?
