install NI-KAL 1.x on Mandriva 2007

Hallo to all.

This's my first post in this forum
why greetings to all and I would apologize for my English

I write this post because I can't do to work my GPIB-PCI on mandriva 2007, exactly my distro is this:

vicente@localhost ~]$ cat /etc/product.id
vendor=Mandriva,distribution=Mandriva
Linux,type=Basic,version=2007.1,branch=Official,release=1,arch=i586,product=One

When I tried to install Visa 2.5 for linux I had a error and the setup was impossible. After I tried ti install NI-KAL 1.5, 1.6 or 1.7 and I get this result in all versions:

[root@localhost NIKAL15]# ./INSTALL

What is happening with the package gcc? It seems that there is a broken link. How can I solve this problem?

Thanks.

Hi Islero,

it seems that this packages are not installed. Try to install all pachages that you need according to the readme file:
http://ftp.ni.com/support/softlib/kal/1.7/readme.txt

This are:
* The GCC compiler and C++ support
* The make utility
* The kernel source files that exactly correspond to the kernel version you
are running.

I hope, this information helps.

Thank for you answer, RMathews

I don't have installed one package that you coment, exactly I haven't got

gcc-4.1.1-3mdk.i586       and         gcc-c++-4.1.1-3mdk.i586

Although, I have installed  gcc-cpp-4.1.2-1mdv2007.1.i586. When I try to install this two packages but the admin of packages said me that It's impossible, this's the error (sorry, It's in spanish)

[root@localhost NIKAL16]# urpmi gcc-4.1.1-3mdk.i586
El siguiente paquete no puede instalarse porque depende de paquetes
más antiguos que los ya instalados:
glibc-devel-2.4-7mdv2007.0
gcc-4.1.1-3mdk
¿Seguir adelante con la instalación? (S/n) s
Los paquetes gcc-4.1.1-3mdk.i586 no se pueden instalar

In your opinion, Where is the problem?

Hi Islero,

can you try to install the latest version 1.7 instead of 1.5?
The error messages are very strange. It seems that you have already the needed packages installed...

Try it with the new version.
I hope this  helps, RMathews

hello islero,

i just tested the system in the following setup:
i installed mandriva 2007 spring
then i installed additionally the following packages with the software management tool (rpmdrake 2007):
- the corresponding kernel source for the current kernel
- the gcc compiler (4.1.2 in my case)
- glibc (2.4.8)

then i configured the kernel source with the following steps:
cd /usr/src/linux
make oldconfig
make modules_prepare

then i downloaded the NI-KAL 1.7 (it's important to use this latest version and install it before any other NI driver package) and ran the installation script.
after that i ran the 488.2 installation script and it worked without errors.

i recommend to remove all NI packages from the system and try the steps above.

kind regards,

Thank Robert.

I get it !!! I must said that without your help I would not be able to do it. I must give specials thanks to Arturo (www.sanrin.info) that one more time he help me in all about OS Linux.
I will make a "how to" (download it at www.jvmunoz.info) because I think that the setup of visa on mandriva 2007 it's difficult, to say the least.

I post a screen capture, It's the image what summed up many hours of work.

Gracias a todos.
