insufficient location error

 Hi there !

I faced this error when I tried to communicate with an Agilent 34410a DMM by TCP/IP over my corporate LAN. I downloaded an instrument driver for that specific DMM and added the appropriate passport inside MAX.
I got the error when I began to create new a VISA TCP/IP resource in devices and interfaces in MAX. Please note that the instrument is reachable using a hyperterminal session and correctly respond to any directive I send to it.
Has anybody a suggestion for me?
Thanks in advance,Smiley Wink

Hi,

Can you please include the version of MAX and VISA (NI,Agilent) you have? So we can try to duplicate the issue.

Hi jjp377,
thank you for your prompt reply. My MAX version is 4.30f0 with VISA version 4.2. The passport for the instrument is hp34401a_32. I presently use Labwindows CVI ver 8.5.

Hello Rolly,
Lets keep this discussion to the following thread: Unable to communicate with Agilent 34410a in Labwindows/CVI via TCP/IP
It is much more efficient to only have one thread per issue, so people are not duplicating work.

Thanks,

Nathan
