problemes with GPIB 232 cv

"I am using the GPIB-232CV-A to control a HP instrument ( E3646A or 53131A ) through the RS232 port in the PC. I set the GPIB-232CV-A to be work on the CONTROLLER MODE ( MODE C ).
I use "HyperTerminal" or "Tera_Term_Pro_2.3" to send data from RS232.

I visualize the GPIB lines with a logic analyzer.

When the GPIB-232CV-A is power-up, it make change on lines of GPIB bus.
But when it power on whereas the HP instrument is already ON, none signal change on the GPIB bus.
Do you think it's ok ?

But when i write a command to the instrument ( like SYST:REM or OUTPUT ON ...) I find that the GPIB-232CV-a is never on the TALK or LISTEN status ( the LISTEN and TALK LED can not ON ) and none signal change on the GPIB bus.
Just the B
USY led is on when some ( but not all ) character are received.

Do you know what is the problem? what else detail should i pay attention to? thanks a lot!"

Hi,

The GPIB-232CV-A asserts the IFC line when powered on. Also the REN line is asserted. When the GPIB-232CV-A goes to ready it addresses the device to listen. This means that the instrument should be on before the GPIB-232CV-A is on, so it can receive the addressing command.

Check the termination setting of the GPIB-232. Refer to the user manual for details: GPIB-232CV-A User Manual
