"Invalid Drive: U:\" error when installing PCMCIA-GPIB on WinXP

I got "error 1327: Invalid Drive: U:\" message when I tried to install PCMCIA_GPIB in my PC (WinXP). Same error occured whether or not the PCMCIA_GPIB is inserted into the slot during installation. I don't understand what drive U is, there is no such drive in my PC. I got the same error when I tried installing from dirver software downloaded from NI website.

Make sure you include the whole address. Sometimes depending on the email browser, the address shows chopped off. If the link doesn't work, search in www.ni.com for 1327 +installer.

I too was encountering the "Error 1327". In my case it was when I was trying to install my own application from a distribution kit created with CVI 6. Reassigning my CD ROM to drive letter U solved this problem.

I'm glad there is a workaround for this problem, but is there a way to avoid it altogether? It is extremely awkward to try to explain this workaround to one of our customers who is trying to install my application on his computer. Consumer-oriented software packages don't require this kind of expertise to install (reassigning drive letters, etc), and my applications shouldn't either.

My question is this: Is there a something I can do when I create a distribution kit that will prevent this problem from occurring?
