resource manager for windows 98

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I am working on restoring an old test equipment capability using some spare hard disks.  I am looking at the Resource Configuration Manager, and I am puzzled.

The resource manager I am looking at is National Instruments MAX (Version 2.0.3.17).  What puzzled me is that, under the "Devices and Intersfaces", I don't see any instrument listed under.  From Windows' hardware manager, I should have two ISA Serial Port, and one GPIB card (that is also ISA).

Is MAX not suppose to list those instrument?  Do I need to add the instrument manually?

And, is this version of resource manager runs okay with Windows 98?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

Hi Peggy,

If you don't have any devices listed under "Devices and Interfaces", I suspect either you haven't yet installed the drivers, or the Device Loader has not started.

Do you have the NI-488.2 (GPIB) and NI-VISA (Serial ports) drivers installed? You can find the drivers Here , but you might have to go back a few pages to find the drivers compatible with Windows 98.

When you confirm you have the drivers installed, I'll be happy to dig further with you. Thanks!

Best,

Thank you!

I think the version I had was too old.  After driver update, I can see the GPIB and Serial Port configurations now.
