usb gpib hs error 'no board'

Hello everybody!

if this question has allready been answered; forgive me, but I wasn't able to find it (and I really tried).

I'm using a NI USB-GPIB-HS cable to communicate with a Keithley 2000 multimeter (with a SCAN multichannel card), and Labview 8.0. The program I wrote read resistance on different channels. As I was testing it at a certain point I ran the program with Keitley turned OFF. A lot of erros prompted the screen and I aborted the program. After that I turned Keithley on again and ran the program, but whatever I do, I keep getting a NI 488.2 error: 'No board present' on the screen.

I've restarted the computer, and Keithley -> didn't work.
Reinstalled the drivers -> didn't work
Changed the GPIB adresses (both Keith and program) -> didn't work

Tried to see if the USB-GPIB-HS card has been damaged by running the Mesurement and control; Ni 488.2 analyzer , but it failed to detect it. However, this test isn't conclusive because I also ran it on the other computer where I have a GPIB-PCI card and it also didn't detect it.

Both LEDs  ('ready' and 'active') od the USB-GPIB-HS cable are blinking (not at the same time..) during the test.

Also I've installed the 8.0 ->8.0.1 ->8.2.1. update, though my Labview says it's a 8.0.1 version. Is it possible that there is some kind of a bug with the update? (Though it doesnt sound likely, cos the program ran smoothley with the updates before theprogram was ran with Keithley turned OFF..).

If somebody had a simmilar problem and solved it -> please let me know.
   Thanks.

Hello Mihael,

When you connect the USB-GPIB-HS to your computer and open "Measurement and Automation Explorer", do you see it under "devices and interfaces"?  IIf the device is detected, you can turn on the Keithley 2000 and "Scan for instruments" by right-clicking on your device and selecting this option.  Let me know if any of this fails.  Have a great day.

Ok; just before I've seen your message, I tried my lab-neighbour's Keithly USB-GPIB and everything worked fine. After (again!) reinstalling the NI USB-GPIB HS drivers (v2.5) everything went back to normal. The card works just fine.

"Measurement and Automation Explorer" can see the Keithley2000 now.
Thanks for the support, tough.

Hi again!
NI GPIB Analyzer doesn't detect my GPIB-USB-HS card. When I go to the Measurement and Automation - "devices and interfaces"; it is present, and the device works great, but still the Analyzer doesn't detect it. Isthere any idea why this happens?

Thnx!

It's not supposed to detect your USB GPIB device. The analyzer is only for '+' GPIB devices such as the PCI-GPIB+. This is the only NI controller with a built-in analyzer.

Ok, didin't quite get that.
The confusing part is that the GPIB Analyzer comes with a NI 488.2 v2.5 drivers which include the GPIB-USB-HS support. If you go to the NI website with the latter driver, and read the readme. html
focusing on the "Supported devices" part, you can find a "*" sign for "Analyzer functionality is not supported" only under PCI-GPIB+ ; 'Vistax64' column.

Thanx for saving my nerves though, Smiley Very Happy
