using 3rd party calibration software and Labview together over same GPIB address

Hi.

I am trying to perform the following actions using LabVIEW to collect data from an instrument:-

1)Use Labview to launch a 3rd party calibration software. It will communicate with the same instrument for calibration purposes.

2)Return control to LabVIEW and use LabVIEW to collect data, plot and save data readings.

Is it possible to have both LabVIEW and a 3rd party calibration software running together over the same GPIB address, communicating with the same instrument? I am using one GPIB card only.

Also,may I know how to launch a 3rd party software in LabVIEW?

in your software close the VISA device  and start the external program with systemexe.vi , set wait until finisdh true
