The PCI-8430 data sheet specs cite a 1 Mb / sec max bit rate.

If I have the 8 port version, can I expect a sustained, 8 x 1 Mbit/sec throughput when using all 8 ports?

That's roughly a MB / sec total, not a problem for PCI BW unless the driver imposes a limit somewhere.   Total board sustained throughput is obviously a bigger consideration than the maximum possible bit rate on a single port.

Similarly, what happens if I scale up to two or more 843x boards in the same system on the same PCI bus segment?

Hi menchar,

Yes, you will have no problem operating at the max baud rate (1Mb/s) on each of the channels. This will remain the same even if you had multiple modules on the same bus.
