I am designing an autonomous robot using NI's RIO which is used for detecting objects by only having look on them, i.e. no sensor is used and only image processing is employed.
Problem is that I'm confused if cRIO or sbRIO is capable of doing that type of image processing? Because I have to do that image processing on some embedded system. Also, can these RIOs support the IMAQ blocks of image processing?

Adeel Amin.

Hello Adeel,
There are some IMAQ functions that could be used on the CRIO as a part of the FIRST competition. However, using IMAQ Vision functions on a sbRIO or the CRIO is not something that is supported and would not be recommended. If you are looking for embeded solutions that will work with IMAQ Vision functions, I would have to suggest the Compact Vision System, NI Smart Camera, or the Embedded Vision System.

Hi Adeel, IMAQ vision is supported on CRIO - SBRio, make sure to install IMAQ vision on your platform. you can check this news: http://digital.ni.com/worldwide/bwcontent.nsf/web/all/F3DD9A90E45DAEE3862576BE007E2926
In this message there is a link to a tutorial, you can use GIGE or analog camera's via a movimed module.
However be aware that the CRIO or SBRio target will not be as performant as a PC for image processing tasks.
