Backwards Compatibility - Arduino Support

I like the direction NI is going with Arduino support, however the requirements state that only very current versions of LabVIEW are supported.    We do not update LabVIEW very often, if ever as there is no real need,  so sad to see older versions are not supported.   Would like to see more backwards compatibility with things like this…   This type of thing makes just want to defer any updates as long as we can since it’s just a matter of time until the new version is now not supported.  

If we would have updated LabVIEW a few years ago as planned, then we definately would not have been able to update again any time soon...   right now we could probably get approval to update to 2015, but in 5 or even 2yrs who knows what will come out and now we will be missing support.

You are swimming against the tide of software, my friend. I understand where you are, but Windows and Apple are both moving to continuous updates for the OS, and pretty much all of the world's software is following suit.

NI recognizes how many regulatory and restricted environments we are a part of so we do a lot to provide backward compatibility, but it is extrordinarily expensive to maintain build systems for multiple versions and a further expense to do testing in them. Given the trends of the software and business worlds, requests like this one are just not going to go anywhere. I'm sorry, but that's the simple truth of the matter.

Most businesses that I observe are taking a close look at their business models to find ways to be comfortable with this continuous upgrade world. You may need to do the same. At the rate technology is changing, six months is a long release cycle.
