Better Help Text for "Edit Mode On Open" Property

What does the "Edit Mode On Open" Property do? I do not manage to do anything useful with it. Could you please improve the help text?

 

What is its purpose?

Is this setting saved when the VI is saved?

When I set it to false and open the FP thereafter programmatically, why is the VI in edit mode?

I have filed documentation CAR 290890 to address this as a bug fix instead of as an idea. This idea will be declined.

Thanks Aristos Queue! Creating a CAR (Corrective Action Request) will help our technical writers work on better documentation to make it clearer to customers what this property actually does.

Well, kind of... I don't know what that function does and a quick query of people didn't find anyone sitting near me who knew about it, so someone is going to have to dig into the database, find a name, maybe find the name of the person who took over when the first person left, etc, until we can find out what the function does. I put the link to this forum into the CAR, so when someone works on it, I hope they take a moment to update this... so it might be a while, but not all the way until the CAR is actually fixed.
