Control/Indicator block diagram right-click option to show reference terminal

I think it would sometimes be usefull to have the abiltiy to right click on a control or indicator terminal in the block diagram and select an option that would cause an output for a reference to that control/indicator to become visible directly on the terminal. That way if a sub VI required a reference to something, it would be very easy to see which control/indicator reference it was using since there would be a direct wire from the control/indicator to the sub VI or property node.

If you leave the label on for the reference and you use unique names for your controls and indicators, it is quite clear what you are manipulating.  Are you just trying to avoid creating a reference?

Yes I thought that having access to a reference directly from a terminal would eliminate the need to create a separate reference object. I don't like having separated entities like references or local variables.

I rarely need references, and if I do they are nowhere near their terminal. Most of my references are for indicators. The references are always on the left side of the diagram while indicators are typically on the right. Your idea would most often lead to ugly right-to-left wiring....
